Why do bankers get so much abuse yet footballers generally don't?

The Banks are gambling with public money. If there gambles pay off they keep all of the profits. If there gambles are unsuccessful then the tax payer picks up the bill. The Bankers are jeopardsing the whole of society for there own gain. Footballers are doing no such thing. They are offered contracts by football clubs and they either say yes or no. They are not jeopardising other people, they are not hurting other people and they are not swindling people. The Banks can make no such claim.
